Bitcoin Remains Stable As Everything Crashes - WiM Weekly
A weekly rundown of new WiM podcast releases and some food for thought
It’s a familiar scene: Bitcoin hits an all-time high. Headlines go wild. Pundits analyze every price movement. Speculators cheer (or lament), and your group chats light up with messages like, "Is it too late to buy?"
When we consider Bitcoin’s price, it’s almost always expressed in fiat terms—Dollars, Euros, Yen. These currencies are the standards we use to appraise value. However, fiat currencies are inherently unstable, subject to inflation, changes in monetary policy, and the whims of central bankers. As a result, they fail as reliable appraisers of value.
Bitcoin is the only constant in a world of endless economic variables. 1 bitcoin = 1 bitcoin isn’t just a meme, its a reminder that Bitcoin’s value lies in its constancy.
"It’s harder to be kind than clever." — Jeff Bezos
Solving technical problems can be challenging, but they often pale in comparison to solving problems of social coordination. Technologies that bring humans together are perhaps the hardest to perfect. The ultimate goal in software is to set the standard. However, as the following comic illustrates, getting people to agree on a set of rules is nearly impossible.
Language sets a standard that enables us to communicate and cooperate. How can we work together if we can’t agree on what to call things? In this sense, Bitcoin is a language—a ruler—a shared operating system that allows humans to collaborate. It solves the hardest problem of all: setting the standard.
"Unless you have confidence in the ruler's reliability, if you use a ruler to measure a table you may also be using the table to measure the ruler."—Nassim Taleb in Fooled by Randomness
Bitcoin is the first fixed and unchangeable standard for money—akin to what the meter is for distance. By solving the hardest problem—getting humans to agree on a standard—Bitcoin is the foundation of a new social consensus that allows for greater trust, stability, and coordination in a world plagued by unstable monetary standards.
So, is Bitcoin at an all-time high? If you measure in fiat terms, perhaps it is. Measured with an honest ruler, it’s exactly where it’s always been: 1 bitcoin = 1 bitcoin.

WiM530 with Robert Breedlove
"With money, we have this accounting system by which we're actually accounting for the favors that have been rendered across time and that are due to be rendered in the future. So when it's functioning properly, money is something that makes reciprocal altruism mathematically precise … So it's this accounting system for favors, if you will, that is money. It allows human beings to scratch each other's backs without needing to know or trust one another. You can just walk into a store with strangers and give them money, and they don't need to know that you're good for it. They're trusting that the money has integrity rather than you having personal integrity. And this is the basis on which we build interactions with strangers. That really is one of the main qualities of civilization."

The Art of Alpha Retreat: December 17-21
Join a select group of like-minded men along Mexico's stunning Pacific Coast for a transformative retreat focused on elevating mind, body, and soul. Set in a retreat center designed to train and recalibrate the nervous system, we’ll dive deep into mastering new skills and engaging in high-impact discussions.
The Art of Alpha is a transformational 5-day experience designed for men who want to push themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually. We’ll be diving into key areas such as biohacking, somatic practices, and embodiment techniques that are aimed at helping you achieve mastery over your mind, body, and soul.
What to Expect:
- a daily yoga practice to reunify the body and soul through a range of movements.
- an advanced meditation practice to bring you into the present moment suited for both beginners and experts alike
- the development of advanced meditation techniques to bring our fractured attention back into the here and now
- mitochondrial activation therapy to optimize energy production at the cellular level.
- daily cold plunges to discipline the mind and reduce systemic inflammation in the body.
- and from extreme cold, we move to extreme heat, via the ceremony of tamazcal. Tamazcal’s indigenous meaning is “house of steam” and it is a ritual that purifies the soul, spirit and body through exposure to intense heat.
- On top of this we will have advanced breathwork to reset the nervous system and safely access higher states of consciousness.
- And throughout the retreat you will be receiving workshops from a range of specialists in fields ranging from neurobiology to nutrition.
- All the while, we will be eating 3-meals per day of delicious anti-inflammatory foods prepared by our in-house chef. I am extremely picky when it comes to food, and honestly this was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten.
This retreat is specifically designed for a small, curated group of men who are committed to growth and personal transformation. Whether you’re a high achiever looking to deepen your understanding of yourself, or someone seeking to unlock new layers of your potential, this retreat is for you.
